Large portions of the photo collection have been digitized in high quality and can be made available to users online.

The metadata for the photos—which are systematically organized by people, institutions, and events—is also partially available here in our database under Section VI, Rep. 1.

There, the metadata for all film and audio recordings can also be searched in Section VII, Rep. 1 and Rep. 2. The film and audio collection has been digitized (with the exception, however, of film and audio documents for which the Max Planck Society does not hold the rights—these can, however, be made available in our reading room upon prior appointment to be viewed or listened to, if needed).

You are also welcome to visit our archive for photographic research by appointment. Copies of the original photographs, along with their metadata, can be viewed in our analogue  photo finding aids in the reading room, which are systematically organized by individuals, institutions (primarily the Kaiser Wilhelm and Max Planck Institutes), and events.
