The tradition of the scientific Archives is mainly composed of three strands. The Society’s core piece is formed by the scientists and their Institutes. This is reflected by the personal papers of the Scientific Members, but also by the files of the Institutes. To provide advice and support to its more than 80 research Institutes and facilities, the Max Planck Society has its Administrative Headquarters in Munich. The records originating there form the third strand. Additions such as autographs, but also potential exhibits or manuscripts complete the Archives’ profile.
